Ever wonder what the man who created Comic Sans thinks of how Comic Sans is viewed today?

Font designer Vincent Connare @ the 2009 ROFLThing NYC talks about the history of Comic Sans (who knew that Watchmen led to such a font), how much it’s overused, and his general acknowledgment of the mania that is Comic Sans…..all in a very funny standup.

Thanks to Crackle.com for posting this great vid.

What a cool bit of news… love the feature you have made out of it.

Almost worthy of a #lovecomicsans campaign, but don’t look to me to start it. :)

    Thanks for the feedback.

I thought it great to see what the man who created Comic Sans thought about where his font is today (read: EVERYWHERE)

Also pretty amazing that his inspiration was the graphic novel Watchmen.

Perhaps there will be a tweet upon the horizon for a #lovecomicsans campaign. Quickly followed by a #lovepapyrus one? HA!

It’s about time some positive stuff got said about Comic Sans. Some time ago. I did, online, and it wasn’t so well-received by the type fascista. Perhaps over- and misused, Comic Sans (and Connare) never deserved the abuse heaped on them. I always suspected it was misplaced anger at Microsoft.
