BHD’s top 10 goals in Twenty-Ten

New Years always bring with it lists and lists of goals and resolutions that for some reason or another were not accomplished last year and have become priorities this year. Some people want to improve their health, some their business, some both. Whatever the case may be we all have them, and as it is fresh in our minds we are all still excited about them.

After the jump you’ll find 10 personal goals that I’d like to accomplish by the years end (or sooner hopefully) and hopefully I can refer back to this as the year progresses and check my achievements.

More importantly, leave a comment with some of your goals too!

#1 – Do 5 personal projects. Personal projects serve as creative outlets to help brake one away from the hustle and bustle of the corporate freelance world. Painting is definitely a high-priority on this one.

#2 – Learn another language. German, Russian, Korean, you name it. Languages are an important skill to have in an ever-melding world. No language, no communication. No communication, no business.

#3 – Take at least 4 trips this year. Oh boy, this is a biggie. Stepping outside ones bubble is the best way to grow as a person IMO. Seeing and meeting different people and lifestyles makes you appreciate what you already have.

#4 -Hit 100 subscribers on BHD. This is going to take some work, but I think it’s definitely achievable. Why is this an important goal to me? Well by hitting 100, it would mean that people are appreciating the information I put forth and hopefully helping a few along the way.

#5 – Attend at least 10 tweetups. Tweetups have proven to be one of the best ways to meet the people I interact with online, in real life. 2009 has provided some highly valued friendships and connections that I would have never made outside of Twitter. Not a cheesy business relationship, but a genuine one.

#6 – Complete 3 joint projects. Depending on a few factors, this one could turn out to be the most fun of my goals. Collaboration is something I enjoy and value. Doing it with friends would be even better!

#7 – Average at least 1 blog post per day. This is all about being consistent and following through. If I want to achieve goal #4 I’ll probably need to do a lot more than this.

#8 – Do at least 5 screencasts. Screencasts are something I’ve been looking into for a while. Recent conversations with friends have made this one a goal of mine.

#9 – Complete at least 10 tutorials. Similar to screencasts, I love all of the great tutorials on the web, and would love to put a few out myself in the hopes that mine could help and/or inspire someone to do the same.

#10 – Make time to stop and smell the roses. Pretty straight forward here. I need to allow myself time to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Being a work-horse can have it’s pros and it’s cons.

Now that you’ve seen my top 10 goals for 2010, what are some goals you may have? How did you do last year in achieving your goals? Comment below!

Whoa! Great list. I like several of them myself. When I went to the post I was thinking that these things would always be so much easier to accomplish if people did these things together. Kinda like having a work-out buddy. Friends can keep you on track and making progress.

I can help you with items 1-4. I have a painting teacher I would highly recommend. I have tons of language learning materials that might be helpful in some way. Bob & I have traveled a lot and can advise there. Finally, on item 4 I can subscribe and get you one more notch there.

You are on your way to success. Cheers!
