Happy Monday folks! Hope you all had a great weekend doing whatever it is you crazy kids do on the weekends. As for me, I was digging in up to my elbows with delicious, savory crawfish and other Creole foods at Harold and Belle’s Crawfish Boil held this past Saturday at their restaurant in Los Angeles (you can see our write-up here).
The weather was perfect, the music was great, the people were friendly and the food was delicious. It was a fantastic way to spend a Saturday and great introduction to a new favorite restaurant of mine in Los Angeles.

I could hear the easy Creole sounds of the house band playing long before I saw the restaurant. The sweet smells of Cajun spices greeted me long before the pleasant smiles of Harold and Belle’s staff did. And as I finally strolled into Harold and Belle’s Restaurant on a bright, clear, and warm Saturday afternoon, I knew it was time to get down to business and get my #NOM on. The venue was decorated in the bright green, purple, gold and silver commonly associated with NOLA and the Mardi Gras spirit. The outdoor picnic style event was packed with people of all ages enjoying these Creole delicacies as they all sat, drank, ate, laughed, and listened.

Amongst the attendees were some familiar faces as well. @cyuskoff (big credit goes to her hardwork for helping to pull this event together), @josh_ross, @laurelkaufman (a crawfish first timer), @n8thesk8, and @identifidesign were just a few of the tweeps in attendance.

The menu of the day consisted of a huge plate packed with steaming, freshly boiled crawfish, perfectly seasoned with just the right spices (including a touch of nutmeg which is always a win in my book), boiled potatoes, and sausage. In addition to this platter, there were also the a la carte items such as jambalaya, etoufeé, gumbo, and bread pudding for an additional cost.
All in all this was a great event and one of the few that I look forward to attending for years in the future. Harold and Belle’s Creole restaurant managed to blend all of this great food, drinks, weather, music and people, together as masterfully as they did their crawfish boil and it was the perfect recipe for a great weekend.
Be sure to visit their website for more information and restaurant location. Additionally make sure to “Like” them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter too!

Justin, thanks for the fantastic write-up! It was nice to see several techies together digging in to crawfish, for some—for the first time! Good stuff!!!!! A shout out to IdentifDesign who also worked hard to put this event together, as well as, the Legaux family—owners of Harold & Belle’s, who welcomed me like I was family. Another huge thank you to YOU, Justin, for supporting the event for several weeks with your blogs, tweets and “facebooking”—and ultimately, taking really great shots the Crawfish Boil in its raw, unvarnished glory!
